Board of Directors’ Message
“Six years marching with excellence”
2009 witnessed eventful year of strategic achievements and valuable growth to JITOA. After six years marching with excellence, JITOA currently has anchored reputable positioning in the Jordan Tourism Industry, being a major reference for the sector and showcasing the sector’s needs.
JITOA inaugurated several projects and initiatives for developing the tourism sector and enriching the tourism experience in Jordan.
One of the major achievements of the year 2009 was introducing the Jordanian travel market with the Professional Indemnity and Public Liability Insurance in September 2009; this is provided exclusively to JITOA members as a mark of excellence. This year also JITOA presented a unique environmental national initiative, “Don’t Mess with Nature” acting as a motivating body in creating real awareness on the littering problem at major touristic sites.
JITOA conducted a number of effective educational and training courses in addition to applying the first joint pilot project the “Tourism Management Internship Program”. JITOA also launched the “Voluntourism Project” in August 2009 for increasing the voluntourism opportunities in Jordan and to develop this important niche market for the industry.
JITOA has set strategic plans for the upcoming year such as; continued advocacy with various ministries, creating new marketing opportunities for members through international road shows and exhibitions, expansion of training programs, strategic international and local partnerships, networking opportunities, developing new website, and support developing new tourism products and niche markets, such as Voluntourism, Eco-tourism and others.
